Year 11

At year 11, students choose 7 courses of study that will support them to gain their NCEA Level 1 qualification.

All year 11 students will study:

  • An English subject

  • A Mathematics subject

  • A Science subject is highly recommended

Students will also choose:

Students can choose up to four other subjects available to Year 11 students. They can do additional English, Mathematics and Science courses if desired.

Year 12

At year 12, students choose 7 courses of study that will support them to gain their NCEA Level 2 qualification.

Some students may choose to choose a mix of year 11 and year 12 subjects.

All year 12 students will study:

  • An English subject

  • A Mathematics subject

Students will also choose:

Students can choose up to five other subjects available to Year 12 students. They can do more than one course within the same subject discipline.

Year 13

There are no compulsory subjects at year 13. However, it is advised that students will choose an English subject, particularly if they think they may consider a further education (tertiary) pathway beyond school. Some students may choose to choose a mix of year 12 and year 13 subjects.

Students can choose up to seven subjects available to Year 13 students.
