Nau mai, haere mai! Welcome to Heretaunga College
Life-long Learning through Connectedness
Through our commitment to whakawhanaungatanga, we provide a supportive, innovative, and inclusive environment for our ākonga to grow resilience, self-determination, and cultural connectedness. Our curriculum ignites passion and fosters academic success, and prepares personalised pathways for all. Ensuring holistic wellbeing (hauora) is foundational to growing our ākonga.
We are a co-educational Years 9 to 13 secondary school located within the beautiful Upper Hutt City. Our school is situated close to Awakairangi - our awa and Remutaka - our maunga; providing a backdrop for recreation and enjoyment, and opportunity for our young people to become kaitiaki of our rich natural environment.
We provide a warm, modern, and well-resourced kura with a focus on contextualised and student-centred learning opportunities. Our Kaiako (teachers) provide exciting and innovative learning programmes that ensure academic pathways appropriate to ākonga (student) interests and needs.
As a relational school, with our PRIDE values (participation, respect, integrity, determination, empathy) underpinning all that we do, we strive to build strong and positive relationships, foundational to the success of our students. We are committed to the wellbeing development of all our students; for their academic, social, and emotional, and physical health.
With our spacious, modern, and well-equipped facilities, we provide wide-ranging opportunities for ākonga to develop their individual strengths and skills; whether academically, culturally or in the sports arena. A strong leadership development programme affords our students the chance to grow personally, to grow leadership confidence and to grow their leadership skills. This approach connects our junior and senior students, and is testament to our PRIDE values in action.
We look forward to meeting with you to share our passion for our Kura, and to answer any questions you may have.
