Senior students are actively involved in keeping the school a calm and safe environment, they assist staff in doing duties and keeping a strong presence in the school.
Year 12 students are trained to work with small groups of Year 9 students as they begin their secondary education. The peer support leaders run special programmes and also assist in form classes. Designed to give Year 9 students contact with positive role models, it aims to ensure that each Year 9 student has a Year 13 student he/she knows and feels able to approach.
The connections are maintained in Year 10 with Year 13 Peer Support leaders being assigned to Year 10 classes.
Students have easy access to a variety of health services and advice.
A full range of counselling services are available through a full-time trained counsellor on-site. Referral can be made to specialist counsellors as needed.
The youth coaches work with students who are aged between 16-17 who are at risk of leaving school without gaining NCEA level 1 or 2. The coaches meet with the identified students regularly to help keep them on track in terms of what they do both inside and outside of school.
